Tuberculosis (TB) is a potentially serious infectious disease that mainly affects the lungs and is caused by the bacterium Mycobacterium tuberculosis.

Causes

  • Mycobacterium tuberculosis bacteria
  • Spread through airborne droplets from coughs/sneezes

  • Hospitalization (in severe cases)
  • Supportive care

Prevention

  • BCG vaccine
  • Screening for high-risk groups
  • Proper ventilation
  • Wearing masks in high-risk areas
  • Complete prescribed medication
